Employment Lawyer

  • Provide strategic legal advice across a broad range of HR/IR/Employment matters.

  • Hands-on role offering stakeholder engagement, autonomy, and career growth.

  • Broad, business facing role with real influence.

This highly respected Australian marine and logistics business is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation. With national operations and a significant workforce footprint, the organisation plays a leading role in their sector. As the business continues to expand, an opportunity has arisen for an HR/IR/Employment lawyer with 3-8 years’ PAE to join its growing in-house legal team and become a trusted adviser to the business on workforce and workplace matters.

Working closely with the General Manager, senior leaders and operational stakeholders, this hands-on role will lead the organisation's people, industrial relations and HR functions, ensuring the workforce capability, employment practices, performance culture and employee relations strategies required to support safe, efficient operations and growth.

You will provide strategic and practical legal advice across a broad range of HR/IR/Employment matters including but not limited to:

  • Deliver training and workforce capability initiatives while coaching leaders on best-practice people management and workplace risk.

  • Drive employee relations and industrial relations initiatives, including dispute resolution and EA implementation.

  • Provide advice on performance management, disciplinary processes, employee relations matters and complex people issues.

  • Establish and manage the performance management framework.

  • Review, develop and implement HR policies, procedures and employee relations frameworks to support business growth and consistency across operations.

  • Manage employment-related compliance, contracts, and claims administration.

  • Advise on contractor engagement arrangements, workforce compliance obligations and modern award interpretation.

Who we’re looking for:

We would like to speak with HR/IR/Employment lawyers with 3-8 years’ PAE gained within a top/mid-tier, leading boutique firm, or an in-house legal team who are looking to take on a broad, business facing role with real influence.

Join a growing national organisation in a highly visible in-house role offering genuine stakeholder engagement, autonomy, and career growth.  If you are looking to combine technical expertise with people advisory work, we would like to hear from you.
