General Manager - Operations
Bridge strategy and execution across a national business.
Influence operations, projects and commercial outcomes.
Hand-on role, building trusted partnerships across the business
Our client is a well-established and highly respected Australian marine logistics business with a strong reputation for operational excellence and service delivery. Having successfully navigated a significant growth phase, the business is now entering its next stage of expansion and is seeking an exceptional General Manager to help shape and execute its future vision.
About the role:
This is a rare opportunity for a commercially minded senior lawyer to step into a genuine business leadership role, acting as the critical link between the executive team, operational workforce and strategic objectives of the organisation. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will serve as a trusted advisor and partner, helping drive the execution of the company's strategic priorities while ensuring alignment across people, operations, projects, governance and commercial outcomes.
You will be the person who ensures the business strategy is not only understood but successfully implemented across the organisation. Working closely with the executive leadership team, project leaders, commercial stakeholders and site-based personnel, you will bring clarity, accountability and commercial discipline to a fast-paced and growing business.
You will lead the day-to-day delivery of the business's operations, ensuring that services are delivered safely and reliably, operational resources are planned and deployed effectively, and operational teams remain closely connected to clients and the broader business.
Key Responsibilities
Provide operational oversight across vessel and pilotage operations.
Develop and maintain operating procedures and ensure consistent service delivery.
Lead workforce, crew, fleet and resource planning to meet operational requirements.
Coordinate operational resources, scheduling, training and asset planning, resolving competing priorities to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
Lead mobilisation, implementation and continuous improvement of operational services.
Ensure fleet capability, compliance and maintenance planning to support reliable operations.
Monitor service delivery against client and contractual requirements.
Who we’re looking for:
We would like to speak with accomplished senior in-house lawyers who have exposure to HR, operational leadership, governance and strategic execution ideally within a marine, logistics, energy and resources sector.
This is not a traditional legal role, it is an opportunity to become a key member of the executive leadership team and play a significant role in shaping the future of a successful and growing Australian marine logistics business.
