Legal & Commercial Manager

Our client is a well-established mining services company within a leading ASX-listed group. They are seeking a commercially minded lawyer to become the dedicated legal and commercial lead for their WA business, partnering closely with senior leaders and operational stakeholders across a broad range of legal, commercial, contractual and risk matters.

This is an opportunity for a commercially minded and pragmatic lawyer who is looking to move into a role that is beyond purely legal advisory work and gain greater influence, visibility and leadership exposure within a successful operational business.

Reporting to the General Manager and sitting on the leadership team, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Leading the negotiation and review of client, supplier and subcontractor agreements and oversee the full contract lifecycle.

• Provide practical legal and commercial advice on contracts, risk and strategic business initiatives.

• Partner with operational, procurement and business development teams to support and manage the tenders and proposals process and commercially assist any operational requirements.

• Advise on a broad range of matters including employment matters, investigations, safety obligations, regulatory compliance, contractual disputes, insurance and broader risk management issues.

• Manage external legal counsel and specialist advisers.

• Act as a trusted business partner to the senior leadership team, providing commercially focused legal advice that supports operational decision-making, risk management and strategic growth initiatives.

We would like to speak with lawyers with 7-10 years’ PAE with prior in-house legal experience and a background in mining, resources, energy or related sectors.  We are seeking a hands-on professional with an ability to thrive in what is also an autonomous environment. This role could be either fulltime or our client is open to 4 days for the right lawyer.
